corporate fitness internships open to all graduating seniors in an exercise
science, health promotion or wellness leadership degree programs. The intern will become fully proficient in
the following areas: graded exercise
testing, exercise prescription, group exercise class instruction, wellness

nutrition, recreation event planning, facility and equipment operations,

from fitness center settings to corporate-based health promotion (office
settings). Depending on location, interns will gain experience with
multiple facets of health education and injury prevention including the

(Cupertino, CA): Apple Wellness offers a hands-on internship for
undergraduate and graduate students in the field of exercise physiology, health
and wellness and kinesiology. The internship offers experience in both the
Fitness Center and in the Preventive Care settings. Students gain practical
experience in lifestyle counseling, exercise prescription, and exercise
leadership for a large and diverse population. Interns will have the opportunity
to assist with clinical testing including resting and exercise EKG’s, maximal
stress testing and VO2-max testing. The students must have completed coursework
in exercise physiology, health promotion, Kinesiology or a similar curriculum,
and be knowledgeable of ACSM guidelines. Good communication skills and high
level of professionalism are essential; patient/client interaction is a vital
aspect of our program. Interns are expected to be highly motivated, organized,
self-directed and open to feedback to insure a beneficial internship experience.
The program runs 15-20 weeks beginning in May, September and January. Deadlines

Scripps Center for Executive Health, in La Jolla, California,
offers internships throughout the year to undergraduate and graduate
students interested in Exercise Physiology and/or Kinesiology.
Responsibilities include: body composition testing using BIA and skin
folds, flexibility assessment with goniometer, assisting cardiologist
with maximal treadmills using the Bruce protocol, checking heart rates and blood pressures, calculating
exercise prescriptions, assisting doctors with procedures during the
physical exam, completing health risk appraisals, observing and being
involved in exercise consultations. The student intern is required to
fulfill a minimum of 400 hours, Monday-Friday, beginning at 6:45 am,
and be BLS certified. We
are sorry, but we do not offer a stipend, housing or job placement
assistance. Applicants
should have a strong background in exercise physiology, kinesiology,
and anatomy. Medical requirements include: TB screening within the last
12 months, proof of Rubella immunity, proof of Varicella (chicken pox)
immunity. University/colleges are required to sign an affiliation
agreement stating that the school will provide indemnification

The Oaks at Ojai is a residential health resort located in Southern California. The resort offers full time
internships to college students. Positions are open to sophomore through
graduate level students in any major, and particularly health and fitness
oriented majors and management majors. Guests come to the spa for stress
reduction, fitness gain, and weight loss, and to learn the basics of
healthy living. We offer a low fat menu, 16 fitness classes daily and a
variety of evening lectures. Students will have the opportunity to
experience all practical phases of running a residential health spa. The
program focuses on working with the management team, teaching fitness
classes, front desk, reservations, and the kitchen and housekeeping
departments. A concentration in any area is dependent upon the intern's
skills and interest. Experience and certification teaching group exercise classes is a must. By living on site,
the intern can aid us in providing exceptional guest service. Interns are
provided room, meals, use of the facilities, and a $50 per week stipend.
