Advocate Fitness, a fitness and wellness consulting and management service line of Advocate Health Care (Chicago), is accepting applications for internships.  Advocate Fitness has fifteen on-site corporate fitness centers located throughout the Chicago area and works with hundreds of wellness clients.  Our internship programs are available to students studying health/fitness, exercise science/physiology, wellness, recreation, health administration, marketing and other related fields.  We accept interns throughout the year for a 14-week period (this can be tailored to meet the students needs).  At all sites the interns are exposed to all aspects of a comprehensive wellness program (i.e. fitness testing, membership education, project management, etc).  Depending on the site, corporate, commercial or hospital based, the students may also experience teaching fitness classes, planning programs, organizing leagues and tournaments, delivering wellness programs, and exposure  to Cardiac Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine.  All interested students should contact: Thea Lim, MPH, CHES, Internship Coordinator, Advocate Fitness, 205 W. SC Johnson, a family company, Health Promotion, Fitness, and Aquatics program.  Selected as one of the top programs in the country by numerous organizations and awards.  SC Johnson was named as #7 in the country on Fortune Magazines 2005 list of Best Companies to work for.   We are seeking highly motivated undergraduate or graduate students for interns in our Health Promotion and Fitness Program.  Students will be fully involved in all aspects of our programs and facilities.  We have four fitness centers in the Racine area with our largest consisting of over 100,000 square feet of indoor area located in a 146 acre park.  The comprehensive approach to well-being at SC Johnson includes fitness, health promotion, work life, child care, recreation, aquatics, and mind-body activities for employees, their families, and retirees.  The four fitness centers contain state of the art cardiovascular and strength equipment.  Fitness and Health Promotion interns are directly involved with the program delivery, supervision, and management of the facilities, as well as all aspects of health promotion program development and implementation.  They will also get exposure to recreation and aquatics programming and facility management.  CPR certification is required.  Group exercise certifications, personal training certification and others are also desirable.  A $1,500 dollar stipend is offered based on an approximate 14 week full time internship.  Interns are also compensated for work done in addition to their internship hours.  This could include fitness center supervision, Personal Training, class instruction, sports officiating and more.  Assistance in finding appropriate housing will also be provided.  One or two interns will be selected each semester depending on our needs.  Please submit a resume and letter of interest as early as possible to Jim Nord, Health Promotion and Fitness Manager, S. Hammond Clinic LLC, Preventative Health Services Department, located in Munster, Indiana, is offering internships for undergraduate/graduate students. Experience gained in Worksite Health Promotion/Wellness/Fitness, concentrating on: wellness profiles, blood profile programs, bone density screenings, impact-risk reduction education, medical self-care, nutrition/fitness/wellness incentive programs. Interns will participate in testing, and supervision of corporate personal exercise activities and also maintain personal fitness data. Interns will learn software skills, facility, budget, & finance management. Half the internship is in health promotion and half in corporate fitness. Stipends paid. TriHealth Corporate Health Services manages fitness contracts and fitness facilities in the Cincinnati area, including GE Aircraft Engines, Procter & Gamble, Patheon Pharmaceuticals, SunChemical, TriHealth Fitness & Health Pavilion, The YWCA, and onsite fitness facilities at Good Samaritan and Bethesda North hospitals. In addition to corporate fitness, TriHealth also manages wellness contracts throughout the Cincinnati area. Michigan Heart, P.C. Located in the Ann Arbor area.  Michigan Heart offers a six month, forty hours per week internship with a $5,000 stipend paid out biweekly.   We accept students working towards or have finished their Bachelors and Masters degrees from all over the world.  The program involves hands on training in standard, echocardiography and nuclear testing, as well as hands on training in all phases of cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF). The internship program within the Education Services Division of the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF) is designed to give the student a professional experience in his/her major area. This internship will be directed in cooperation with the college or university internship coordinator. Internship opportunities are full-time and are available during the winter/spring (January-May), summer (May-August) and fall (September-December). Winter/spring and fall internships are typically 15 weeks and summer internships 12 weeks. The term of the internship can be extended to satisfy university requirements or increase credit value. Eligible students will be final semester/quarter undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in an accredited health-related degree program with a significant interest in and dedication to primary prevention. Specific disciplines may include, but are not limited to, public health, health education, exercise science, cardiac rehabilitation, nutrition and behavioral psychology. The YWCA of Waukesha, WI offers internships in fitness and recreation to qualified students majoring in exercise science, physical education, fitness management, recreation, etc. Students will be mentored by a college instructor trained in Exercise Physiology and Physical Therapy. Interns can look forward to involvement in the following: exercise testing, leadership, orientation, teaching physical education classes to home schooled children, organizing sports and recreation activities for adults and children, and summer camp counseling.
